Mah Tovu: The Spirit of God

"Hi Friends. Happy Tuesday. I have been encouraged to experiment a little bit with how people receive Torah. I'm going to call it Torah Tuesdays, let me know what you think. This week we are in Parshat Balak, and Balak is a Moabite King, who sends out this prophet Balaam to curse the Israelites so that King Balak can defeat them in battle and drive them out of the region. And off Balaam goes, and you may know the story, Balaam has a talking donkey. But when Balaam gets to the high point overlooking the Israelites, instead of cursing them, the spirit of God overwhelms Balaam and out comes Mah Tovu Ohalecha Yaakov, a prayer that we still say to this day (which I find amazing). If you allow that spirit to overwhelm you, and you can the spirit of God in many different ways: as the spirit of positivity, as the spirit of inspiration, as the spirit of wellness. Whatever you want. Whatever moves you. If you allow that to dictate your life and your outlook, you'll be a source of blessing for everyone around you.
